新婚的南印姑娘陪丈夫到喀什米爾出差，親眼看著丈夫被恐怖份子綁架，語言不通的她，只好鼓足勇氣獨自在異鄉營救丈夫。本片是拉曼首次參與電影配樂的作品，音樂母題不但點出新婚夫妻的際遇流轉，呈現印度南北的文化差異與風俗特色，導演也從此打開國際知名度，拉曼的音樂更被時代雜誌選為影史十大電影配樂。

Roja lives in a Tamil village, and her sister is about to get married to a man from the city. He decides to marry Roja instead, and gets a job assignment in Kashmir, where some militants decide to do a kidnapping. Will the passionate appeal of this young lady move cold and ruthless military and politician's hearts and minds? Two of the songs are worth remembering after watching the movie.
