來自中原的新兵被派往狼災頻仍的邊疆異域抵抗外敵，卻打從心底厭惡血淋淋的戰場。嚴冬襲捲下部隊躲進山中孤村歇腳，讓他邂逅了跟自己一樣同被世界遺棄的當地女人，兩人情欲一發不可收拾，在體溫中重新找到生命氣息。改編自井上靖筆下小說，田壯壯以嚴峻大自然為舞台，挖掘出人內心最大的寂寞、最原始的情感及最深層的鬥爭。

The Warrior and the Wolf is based on a short story by prize-winning Japanese writer Inoue Yasushi, famous for his bizarre and controversial historical novels. Directed by reputed Chinese Fifth Generation filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang, this unconventional movie explores the intricate relation of a man with his primal self and with Nature, and the intense struggle he undergoes between his humanity and an overwhelming sense of loneliness.
